Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the "HONTABI" application ("App") operated by UNION LLC ("we," "us," or "our"). By using the App, you ("User" or "you") agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Application of Terms

These Terms apply to all matters relating to the use of the App between you and us.

2. Registration

• You may use the App anonymously without registration.
• To synchronize your reading and literary pilgrimage data across devices, you must create an account via email, Google, or Apple sign-in.
• Minors must obtain the consent of a parent or legal guardian before using the App.

3. Prohibited Conduct

When using the App, you shall not engage in any of the following acts:

• Acts that violate any applicable law or public order and morals;
• Acts related to criminal activity;
• Acts that infringe upon the intellectual property rights, privacy, reputation, or other rights or interests of us, other users, or third parties;
• Acts that damage or interfere with the functionality of our servers or networks;
• Acts that interfere with the operation of the App;
• Acts of collecting or accumulating personal information about other users;
• Unauthorized access or attempts to gain unauthorized access;
• Any other acts that we deem inappropriate.

4. Suspension of Service

We shall not be liable for any damage arising from the suspension or interruption of the App.

5. Intellectual Property

• Book information, cover images, summaries, and similar content displayed in the App belong to their respective rights holders. The App retrieves and displays such information from publishers, booksellers, and bibliographic databases (including Google Books, OpenLibrary, and similar sources).
• Certain location data is sourced from OpenStreetMap (ODbL) and Wikipedia.
• The design, code, and original works of the App itself belong to us.

6. External Links

The App contains links to external websites, including but not limited to Amazon, Rakuten Books, Rakuten Travel, and Booking.com. Your use of such external sites is subject to the terms of each respective site. We assume no responsibility for the content or use of any external site.

7. Affiliate Programs

The App participates in affiliate programs, including Amazon Associates and Rakuten Affiliate. We may receive a commission when a user purchases a product via a link in the App. This does not affect the price you pay.

8. Changes to These Terms

We may amend these Terms at any time, without prior notice to you, when we deem it necessary. Your continued use of the App after such amendments constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

9. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms shall be interpreted in accordance with the laws of Japan. Any dispute arising in connection with the App shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the court having jurisdiction over the location of our head office.

10. Language

These Terms are provided in English for the convenience of international users. In the event of any inconsistency between the English version and the Japanese version, the Japanese version shall prevail.
